A bathroom is one of the most important aspects of a home, believe it or not we spend a lot of our time in the bathroom, as such it can be an important factor in the value of your home.

If you’re thinking of renovating your existing bathroom this article will help you uncover all the different factors that are likely to play into the cost of the project.

Bathroom Removal Cost

The first thing you’ll need to consider is the cost of removing the existing bathroom sanitaryware, tiles/carpet/flooring, vanity units, baths, showers etc.

This can cost anywhere from £200-£2,000, generally though, we’ve found that this will cost an average of £400.

Once this is done, whoever is building your new bathroom will have a blank slate to work with. But what do you do with all that rubbish?

Waste Removal Cost

Typically for a project like this you are likely to need a skip to hold all the waste from the existing bathroom. The average cost for this is £220 per day for a skip, you’re likely to need the skip either for a few days or for the entirety of the renovation.

It can take anywhere from 3 days to 10 weeks to renovate a bathroom. This will depend on the extent of work required.

Once your old bathroom is gone, it’s time to start laying the groundwork for your new bathroom.

On average, new plumbing installation costs around £30 per m2. Depending on how much work needs to be done, we’re going to assume a replacement of all existing pipework in a 5m2 bathroom, bringing the total to £150.

While installing new lighting will cost an average of £160.

You may also opt to replace any existing extractor fans in the room too, this generally costs £230 per fan.
